A brand new street food and clubbing venue is coming to East London this summer, just in time for the end of the restrictions on socialising.
NME reports that Ernie’s Yard, a hub for street food, bars, and clubbing, is currently being built in a former scrapyard in Canning Town in the London Borough of Newham. It is due to open to the public on 25 June this year and will extend across 12,000 square feet, providing plenty of space for post-lockdown partying.
Like many similar venues across the UK, Ernie’s Yard will be constructed entirely from shipping containers and will include a two-storey clubbing area with a balcony and booths overlooking the dancefloor.
The venue is hoping to launch a series of 12-hour daytime dance parties from June, and an 11 pm licence will allow revellers to party until the early hours, which will be good news for anyone who has missed out on clubbing in the past year.
Promoters including Secretsundaze, Syzygy, Feelings Worldwide, and Percolate have already been lined up, and the shipping container venue is expected to become a favourite in the East London clubbing scene.
In true East London style, Ernie’s Yard will include a huge selection of street food vendors, to suit everyone from vegans to meat-lovers.
The site is designed to be weatherproof and is planned to stay open all year round thanks to tents and clear roofing. Tickets will be going on sale soon and in the meantime, you can sign up here for more information.
